Network with other dancers - no matter where you live. By taking dance classes and workshops, and attending industry events in your area, you'll have a chance to meet others, and make important contacts that could have knowledge of auditions that you're unaware of. So make sure you put yourself out there!
2. Talent Agencies
In Atlanta, there are a few dance agencies in town such as Bloc South and Xcel that specialize in representing dancers. Just make sure you're aware of the type of contracts offered. For example, if you sign an exclusive agreement, you're agreeing to only accept work through your agency. So make sure you do your research before you sign anything!
3. Internet Directories
Dance Jobs is a great online source for finding dance auditions in Atlanta. Its free to start an online profile, and you can search for jobs in your area. And while it is subscription based (you pay by either the month, or year), subscriptions are really affordable, and you can create an online portfolio with photos & video for casting agents/directors to review. Backstage & Answers for Dancers are two other online directories that are great resources for finding dance jobs as well.
4. Local Directories
If you're looking for work in Atlanta, Atlanta Performs & Atlanta Dance Source are two amazing resources for dance jobs. Both free, Atlanta Performs maintains a directory for not only dance jobs, but for theatre work, tech & crew jobs, and training opportunities. While Atlanta Dance Source on the other hand, is a great blog that posts dance auditions, master classes, and dance performances in the city.
Finding dance jobs can be difficult, but with a little perseverance and research, you can be on your way to a successful performance career!
