A typical day for Aloha Atlanta is performing shows for corporate or social events. So, our crew was honored to perform for the troops for Moody Air Force Base! Located outside of Valdosta, GA, the hula dancers arrived to entertain the troops for the base’s Diversity Day to help spread tolerance and love. Received by the incredibly welcoming host, SSgt. Denise Hall, USAF - the performers even managed to get a tour of the base. It gave us great pride and joy to share our gift with the troops, especially during the holiday season! Well, well, well. Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los Muertos 2016 may officially be over, but we can always remember, right? Our annual celebration is not only an opportunity to reflect back to the loved ones that we’ve lost, but it’s also a chance for us to celebrate a beautiful cultural experience with our patrons. A huge thanks to everyone that came out to this year's Day of the Dead Party at the Bone Garden Cantina!!! This year's party was as awesome as always! If you didn’t know about our annual event, you’re probably living under a rock. But, that’s okay. Just check out a few of the highlights below. And be sure to LIKE or SHARE on Facebook or Twitter!
It’s time for Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos in Spanish - the ancient holiday observed across Mexico and now around the world. The meaning behind Day of the Dead can be traced back thousands of years to the ancient civilizations that rose and fell in Mexico prior to the Spanish arriving in 1519. These indigenous cultures, like the Mayans and Aztecs, believed in the afterlife. Death did not mean the end of one’s life, but a continuance of life. Souls traveled to the afterworld and through death, new life was created. It was believed that death was not to be feared, and that the deceased preferred to be celebrated rather than mourned. This year since Creative Director of Stella Entertainment, Shane Smith, has also been creating content for Bone Garden Cantina's blog, Get Your Bone On, we thought we'd share a little history on ofrendas y altars de El Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead offerings and altlars.
