It was a magical night at Atlanta's Buckhead Theatre for EDIN's - Eating Disorders Information Network's 2017 Celebrity Dance Challenge. Fashioned after shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, the annual event brought together Atlanta's top celebrities and professional dancers for a night to remember. Hosted by Christi Paul of CNN & Paul Milliken, Road Warrior of FOX 5’s Good Day Atlanta, the event raised over $132,000 to become EDIN's most successful event to date. Funds raised from the Celebrity Dance Challenge go on to help EDIN to present to various communities and age groups in Georgia, from elementary students to medical professionals. And this year, we were proud to have our very own Creative Director, Shane Smith, participate with a samba performance with Brazilian born beauty guru, Milly Marques of Sweet Peach Wax & Sugaring Studio in Buckhead. Check out the highlights from this year's event below. For info on how you can help EDIN reach your community, visitwww.MyEdin.org. And be sure to LIKE or SHARE on Facebook or Twitter! Obrigado. :)

It's National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. While eating disorders haven't been taken as seriously as some other disorders, eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder. And, 30 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their life. “Eating disorders can hide in plain sight and frequently go undiagnosed until someone’s health is at significant risk. These are life-threatening bio-psycho-social illnesses, not a ‘lifestyle choice.’" said Claire Mysko, interim CEO of NEDA. With roots in Buddhist teachings, since the introduction of mindfulness in Western clinical settings, a large number of studies have documented its beneficial effect on psychological distress and well-being. So in honor of #nedawareness week, we're sharing our top 3 tips for mindful eating. If you find the tips helpful, be sure to LIKE or SHARE on Facebook or Twitter! And don't forget, you can help support this incredible cause by voting for #millyshane in EDIN's Celebrity Dance Challenge. We need your support! :)

A typical day for Aloha Atlanta is performing shows for corporate or social events. So, our crew was honored to perform for the troops for Moody Air Force Base! Located outside of Valdosta, GA, the hula dancers arrived to entertain the troops for the base’s Diversity Day to help spread tolerance and love. Received by the incredibly welcoming host, SSgt. Denise Hall, USAF - the performers even managed to get a tour of the base. It gave us great pride and joy to share our gift with the troops, especially during the holiday season! Check out a few of the highlights below. And be sure to LIKE or SHARE on Facebook or Twitter! Copy that?. :)

It’s time for Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos in Spanish - the ancient holiday observed across Mexico and now around the world. The meaning behind Day of the Dead can be traced back thousands of years to the ancient civilizations that rose and fell in Mexico prior to the Spanish arriving in 1519. These indigenous cultures, like the Mayans and Aztecs, believed in the afterlife. Death did not mean the end of one’s life, but a continuance of life. Souls traveled to the afterworld and through death, new life was created. It was believed that death was not to be feared, and that the deceased preferred to be celebrated rather than mourned. This year since Creative Director of Stella Entertainment, Shane Smith, has also been creating content for Bone Garden Cantina's blog, Get Your Bone On, we thought we'd share a little history on ofrendas y altars de El Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead offerings and altlars. This year not only marked the sixth annual Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, but the first year in its new home of Piedmont Park. With all the construction around the city, it was no surprise that the festival was impacted with a more intimate space last year. But this year's event was nestled in the seclusion of Greensward Promenade, providing a lush backdrop speckled with glass art installations - a perk of being located near the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. With another year of classes, private dinners, and tastings, this year's festival brought both the tried favorites, and the new. Check out the highlights below.
